Must read

Yahaya Bello, the immediate past governor of Kogi State, is expected to be arraigned before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja today, Wednesday, November 27.

AFRIPOST had reported to the Bello voluntarily surrendered himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accompanied by his legal team. Following his submission, the anti-graft agency detained him for further questioning and preparations for his court appearance.

Bello will stand trial before Justice Maryan Anenih of the FCT High Court, sitting in Maitama.

Justice Anenih had scheduled the arraignment for November 27, following a request from the EFCC, and had issued a public summons for his appearance on October 3 in relation to a new case brought against him by the commission.

EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed that Bello would be docked at the FCT High Court but did not specify the exact time of the proceedings.

At the previous hearing before Justice Anenih, EFCC counsel, Jamiu Agoro, noted that the court’s order, issued on October 3, remained valid. After hearing from all parties involved, the judge granted the EFCC’s request for an adjournment and set the return date for today, November 27.
