Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello took charge of crowd control at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court on Wednesday after Justice Maryann Anenih temporarily left the courtroom in frustration over the overwhelming crowd.
Justice Anenih, scheduled to preside over the arraignment of Bello and two others, abruptly rose and announced she would not return until order was restored.
In response, Bello, who was seated at the front of the courtroom, stood and addressed the situation. He instructed his supporters and sympathizers to vacate their seats and leave the courtroom immediately.
The former governor’s swift action calmed the tense atmosphere, as his followers exited the courtroom without resistance, one after the other. To reinforce the order, Bello positioned himself at the courtroom entrance to ensure compliance with the judge’s directive.
His supporters and aides followed his instructions patiently, restoring calm and decorum to the proceedings.
Meanwhile, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Kemi Pinheiro is leading the Federal Government’s legal team for the arraignment, while Joseph Bodunde Daudu, SAN, is heading Bello’s defense team in the 16-count charge case.
