Olubadan lauds architects over architectural design of palace

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin has commended the Nigeria Institute of Architects for the significant role it played in the architectural design of the new Olubadan palace.

Afripost reports that the new Olubadan palace is located at Oke Aremo in Ibadan North Local Government Area.

The monarch on Tuesday gave the commendation while receiving delegates from the Nigeria Institute of Architects in the palace.

Going down memory lane, the Olubadan reiterated that late Architect Biliyaminu Adegboyega Sodeinde led the group of Architects that designed and supervised the architectural design of the palace.

The Olubadan who spoke through the Asiwaju Olubadan, Chief Muibi Ademola Odunade, sought further cooperation on the architectural design of the second phase of the palace.

The monarch said that the second phase of the Olubadan palace will commence in no distant time.

The monarch while speaking further, saluted architects for their professional conduct in Nigeria and Ibadanland in particular.

The National President of the Institute of Architects, Architect (Mrs) Mobolaji Adeniyi revealed that NIA members are at Ibadan to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Nigeria Institute of Architects Western State of Nigeria and attend the National Annual General Meeting of the Institute .

Adeniyi further disclosed that the national Institute was founded at Lagos on 1st April, 1960 while the Western State Chapter first of its kind was launched in 1964.

Accompanying the President were Architects Ali Mukhtah and his wife Afolabi Adedeji, Bode Gbolade, Lola Oyenekan, Akinyemi Olaniyi, Fatayi Falola, S.J Filiya and Obatade S. A among others.

 

In attendance at the reception were Chief Abiola Arulogun, Chief Bayo Oyero, Barrister Sumbo Owolabi, Prince Osuolale Owolabi and Prince Adekunle Owolabi.
