JUST IN: Yahaya Bello presents self to EFCC again

Must read

Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has once again appeared before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of fund misappropriation during his tenure.

Sources close to the EFCC confirmed that Bello arrived at the commission’s office on Tuesday morning, accompanied by his legal team. Contrary to speculation, the current Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, did not accompany him.

This development follows a Supreme Court ruling that dismissed challenges to the constitutionality of the EFCC, further solidifying the agency’s authority to investigate corruption cases.

It was reliably gathered that Bello drove himself to the EFCC office in a black Hilux vehicle, alongside his lawyers. Rumors of his planned visit had circulated last week, but his media aides declined to confirm or deny the reports.

At a previous court hearing on November 14, the EFCC sought an adjournment until November 27, citing the 30-day window for Bello to comply with an earlier summons. Meanwhile, the commission granted administrative bail to Bello’s co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, and requested an extension of time for the former governor’s appearance.

As of the time of this report, EFCC is yet to officially confirm Bello’s visit to the Commission.

Details later.
