Four students in police net for alleged gang rape

Four 16–17-year-old secondary school males have been taken into custody by Nigeria Police’s Adamawa State Command for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl.

After the young girl’s relative reported the alleged conduct, the four suspects were apprehended on counts of criminal conspiracy and rape of a child.

The girl was allegedly raped by the suspects after they had her drink a lot of alcohol.

In a statement released yesterday, the police claimed that the suspects repeatedly admitted to having unauthorised sexual knowledge of the victim.

“Four people were arrested and taken into custody by the Adamawa State Police Command on Sunday,” said SP Suleiman Nguroje, the police command spokesman, in a statement.

According to the statement, the accused were pupils of Government Secondary School Sugu, located in Adamawa State’s Ganye Local Government Area.

“The suspected minors have already been placed in protective custody by Commissioner of Police CP Dankombo Morris, pending the conclusion of the investigation and legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) office,” he stated.
