The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello into custody over allegations of involvement in a multi-billion naira fraud.
According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, Bello was apprehended around 12:54 p.m. on Tuesday at the commission’s office in Abuja.
Despite being declared wanted, the former governor did not voluntarily surrender and was subsequently arrested by EFCC operatives in the capital.
Oyewale confirmed that Bello is currently undergoing interrogation with EFCC investigators and is being held in the commission’s custody.
Three of his legal representatives are present during the proceedings. The spokesperson also stated that the former governor would soon face arraignment in court.
