President Bola Tinubu is set to leave Abuja on Wednesday for a three-day state visit to France at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
The visit aims to bolster political, economic, and cultural ties while exploring new opportunities for collaboration in key sectors such as agriculture, security, education, health, youth development, innovation, and energy transition.
President Tinubu, accompanied by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will be formally welcomed on Thursday at Les Invalides, a historic French military museum, and the Palais de l’Élysée.
The ceremonies will include bilateral meetings between the two leaders and their spouses, with discussions expected to focus on shared priorities.
The visit will also emphasize fostering youth engagement through exchange programs aimed at improving skills in automation, entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership. In addition, the two presidents will hold talks on strengthening cooperation in finance, solid minerals, trade, and investments.
A key highlight will be the session of the France-Nigeria Business Council, which promotes private sector contributions to economic development in both countries.
During the visit, First Lady Brigitte Macron and Senator Oluremi Tinubu will hold discussions centred on empowering women, children, and vulnerable groups through initiatives such as Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Initiative.
President Tinubu and the First Lady will also attend a state dinner hosted by the French president before concluding the visit. The Nigerian leader will be accompanied by senior government officials.
The visit underscores Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing international partnerships and leveraging such alliances for national development.
