Chelsea appoints former Super Eagles midfielder as head scout

Chelsea FC has hired former Nigerian international midfielder Seyi Olofinjana as the new head of their scouting operations in Africa, according to Soccernet.ng.

Olofinjana had a distinguished playing career, both at the club and international levels. He began his career at Crown FC and Kwara United before moving to Europe, where he played for clubs like IK Start, Brann, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sheffield Wednesday, Cardiff City, Hull City, and Stoke City.

On the international front, Olofinjana earned 48 caps for the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles.

After retiring from football in 2014, the 44-year-old continued his involvement in the sport. He served as an academy coach at Wolverhampton Wanderers, later becoming a loans pathway manager, before taking up the position of Sporting Director at Swiss club Grasshoppers.

Now, Chelsea has appointed Olofinjana to lead their scouting efforts in Africa, a region where the club enjoys strong support, particularly in Nigeria. This move was reported by Transfer News Live.
