Reward your allies or face consequences – APC Chieftain warns Tinubu

Must read

A senior member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Cletus Obun, has called on President Bola Tinubu to prioritize rewarding loyal party members, cautioning that sidelining them could lead to political backlash.

Speaking during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television program, Obun criticized Tinubu’s current approach to political appointments, describing it as a risky strategy that undermines loyalty within the party.

“It is a wrong strategy not to reward your own allies. It would surely backfire. In a developing democracy such as ours, it is a brazen affront to loyalty,” Obun said.

He pointed out that many party members who worked tirelessly for Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election feel abandoned. Comparing Tinubu’s administration to that of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Obun lamented the persistent issue of neglecting loyalists.

“Under Buhari, APC had the worst reward system, and now we’re witnessing a repeat. A man works like an elephant but eats like an ant. It’s not fair,” he remarked.

Obun also expressed concern that some of Tinubu’s advisers might be misleading him into undervaluing the contributions of his allies, potentially jeopardizing his chances in future elections.

“Certain attempts are being made to mislead him into thinking that those who worked for him in 2023 may not be useful in 2027. That’s political suicide,” he warned.

He concluded with a stark reminder of the potential fallout: “This neglect of loyal supporters, even their prayers alone, could have consequences for him. Karma is real.”

Obun’s remarks reflect growing discontent within the APC, with many members urging the president to rethink his approach to governance and party loyalty.
