BREAKING: Manchester City suffer shock 4-0 defeat at home to Tottenham

Must read

In a stunning Premier League encounter on Saturday, Manchester City were thrashed 4-0 at home by Tottenham Hotspur, as the visitors put on an impressive display at the Etihad Stadium.

The game started brightly for Spurs, with James Maddison opening the scoring in the 13th minute.

The attacking midfielder slotted home a well-placed shot after a brilliant assist from Dejan Kulusevski, putting Tottenham 1-0 up against the defending champions.

Just seven minutes later, Spurs doubled their advantage in the 20th minute.

Maddison was once again at the heart of the action, scoring his second of the match.

This time, he was set up by Tottenham’s star forward, Son Heung-min, who threaded a precise pass into Maddison’s path to make it 2-0.

Manchester City, known for their relentless attacking play, struggled to get a foothold in the match and failed to break down Spurs’ solid defensive setup.

Tottenham continued to capitalize on City’s vulnerabilities, and in the 37th minute, Pedro Porro made it 3-0.

The full-back was on hand to finish off a well-timed assist from Dominic Solanke, who had picked out Porro’s run into the box.

City’s hopes of a comeback were dashed as Tottenham remained firmly in control throughout the second half.

Despite some possession and brief moments of pressure from the home side, Spurs’ defence held strong, leaving Manchester City unable to find the back of the net.

In the dying moments of the game, Tottenham sealed their remarkable victory with a fourth goal in the 90+3 minute.

Brennan Johnson, introduced as a substitute, finished with composure after a pinpoint assist from Timo Werner.

The goal capped off an emphatic performance from Tottenham, who left the Etihad with all three points and a comprehensive 4-0 win.

The result leaves Manchester City with much to reflect on, while Tottenham moves up the Premier League table with an outstanding performance.

The victory will undoubtedly boost Spurs’ confidence as they continue their campaign under manager Ange Postecoglou.

For City, it’s a wake-up call as they look to regroup ahead of their next fixtures.
