Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Alhaji Ahmadu Kurfi, the former executive secretary of the now-defunct Federal Electoral Commission (FEDECO), which was the predecessor to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Kurfi, who also served as the District Head of Kurfi in Katsina State, passed away recently, leaving a legacy of service to the nation.
Buhari praised Kurfi for his immense contributions to Nigeria’s electoral process, describing him as a wise and capable citizen who dedicated his life to the country’s unity and development.
“His leadership of FEDECO and his work as a Permanent Secretary demonstrated exceptional organizational skills, acumen, and strategy,” Buhari said in his statement.
The former President also acknowledged Kurfi’s significant role as an administrator and traditional leader in Katsina State, where he served the community with distinction for many years.
“We were fortunate to have him for so long as an administrator and opinion leader. He always led from the front,” Buhari added, offering prayers for the deceased’s soul to rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.
Buhari extended his condolences to the family of the late Kurfi, the Emir, the Katsina Emirate Council, Governor Dikko Umar Radda, the people of Katsina State, and the entire nation, recognizing Kurfi as a leader whose wisdom and foresight illuminated the path forward for Nigeria.
