A violent conflict between farmers and herders in Nasarawa and Toto local government areas of Nasarawa State has resulted in the deaths of at least three people.
Umar Nadada, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, confirmed the incident in Lafia.
He stated that the clash occurred on Monday, November 18, around 4:30 pm in Dogon Duste, a community situated between the two LGAs.
According to Nadada, the local Divisional Police Officer received a report of a confrontation in which two individuals were killed on a farm.
Four others were injured and taken to a nearby Primary Health Care facility for treatment.
During a search, police found a third body in the bush, bringing the death toll to three.
Nadada assured that order had been restored in the area and said the police were committed to investigating the incident thoroughly.
He added that the police command is actively collaborating with the community to identify and apprehend those responsible.
The police chief also encouraged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies to enhance public safety.
“We have devised an action plan focusing on collaborative policing based on a detailed analysis of the crime trends in the state,” he noted.
Nadada highlighted that the police have made significant strides in addressing insecurity, attributing much of this success to community cooperation.
He expressed appreciation for the public’s support, which he credited with helping to make Nasarawa one of the most peaceful states in the country.
