The Department of State Services (DSS) has taken Kennedy Tabuko into custody for questioning over alleged attempts to incite the public against government policies, according to security sources.
Tabuko, who claims to lead an organisation called the Niger Delta Development Initiative, was reportedly intercepted by security agents while planning a protest at the National Assembly on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
The protest was said to be aimed at opposing certain policies of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
A top security official disclosed to Vanguard that Tabuko had repeatedly tried to mobilise youths to protest against federal government initiatives.
His latest efforts were described as an attempt to blackmail the government.
The DSS is currently conducting a comprehensive investigation into Tabuko’s activities to uncover his motives and identify any potential collaborators, the source added.
