The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has dismissed as “laughable” the claims by Mr. Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, head of Tantita Security Services, accusing the Nigerian Navy of hindering efforts to combat crude oil theft.
Referring to the Navy’s dedication to curbing economic sabotage and tackling crude oil theft in the Niger Delta, Defence Media Operations Director Major General Edward Buba stated that the Navy’s achievements in boosting Nigeria’s oil production are clear for all to see.
Responding to Tompolo’s allegations, he emphasized, “This accusation is laughable. We’re not here to get into disputes. Our focus is on increasing crude oil production through collaboration, not conflict or blackmail.”
Tompolo previously alleged that some Navy personnel were obstructing Tantita’s work in fighting oil theft and urged Nigerians to support efforts to protect the economy.
Additionally, Major General Buba confirmed that security forces are pursuing the individuals responsible for the killing of three soldiers at a checkpoint in Abia State.
Assuring locals not to worry, he explained, “Our troops were attacked on November 13 in the South East, resulting in three fatalities.
“We are a professional force with rules of engagement and will not target innocent citizens. Our aim is to hold the attackers accountable, and we will pursue them with precision.”
