The Labour Party (LP) has kicked off a nationwide grassroots mobilization effort in preparation for the 2027 presidential election, focusing on empowering youth leaders across the country.
The initiative seeks to unite young people and strengthen their role in driving change and securing the presidency.
Speaking at the Labour Party National Youth Leaders Conference in Abuja on Wednesday, Marcel Ngogbehei, Director General of the Labour Party Directorate of Mobilization and Integration, emphasized the vital role of youth leaders in reshaping Nigeria’s political future.
He stressed that grassroots leadership is essential for national unity and bridging divides across communities and political stakeholders.
The Directorate committed to providing youth leaders with necessary training, advocacy platforms, and resources to enhance their political engagement and effectiveness.
It reaffirmed the party’s dedication to ensuring a fair and inclusive political environment, with young people playing a central role in formulating policies and shaping the party’s strategies.
The Labour Party outlined its vision for tackling Nigeria’s most pressing challenges, including security, economic empowerment, education, and good governance.
The party called on youth leaders to use the conference as an opportunity to strategize and develop practical solutions to these issues.
Ngogbehei acknowledged the energy and creativity of youth leaders, describing them as not only the voice of tomorrow but the driving force of today. He emphasized the importance of incorporating the concerns and aspirations of young people into the party’s policies and strategies.
“The strength of the masses lies in their ability to mobilize and unite every voice in our society,” he said. “Your leadership at the grassroots level is key to fostering unity in the country and bringing about the change we need.”
He further urged youth leaders to build networks, collaborate, and remain focused on developing solutions for critical issues such as security, power, economic empowerment, and quality education.
The Labour Party remains committed to leveraging the power of youth to drive positive change, uphold democratic values, and ensure a prosperous future for all Nigerians. Ngogbehei concluded by reaffirming the party’s determination to secure a Labour Party Presidency in 2027, with a focus on ensuring safety, prosperity, and justice for all citizens.
