“You stabbed us in the back after putting you in power” – Onokpasa blasts Tinubu for appointing Bwala

A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Jesutega Onokpasa, has publicly criticized President Bola Tinubu for appointing Daniel Bwala to a position in his administration.

Onokpasa, who campaigned for Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, expressed his disappointment in a video that has since gone viral on social media.

In his emotional address, Onokpasa accused Tinubu of neglecting his loyal supporters who played pivotal roles in securing his electoral victory.

He argued that Bwala, a former critic of Tinubu, does not deserve a place in the administration, given his past comments during the election campaign.

“Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, my very dear president, I’m so angry with you,” Onokpasa began. “How could you make such an appointment of who? Daniel Bwala, who insulted all of us, called you a drug dealer, a drug baron.”

Onokpasa described the appointment as a betrayal of Tinubu’s loyalists. “You stabbed all of us in the back. You disgraced us and humiliated us by appointing someone who insulted us during the campaign,” he said.

He further accused Tinubu of sidelining key allies, mentioning former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, and Femi Fani-Kayode, all of whom were vocal supporters during the campaign.

“You attack Yahaya Bello, you attack El-Rufai, and you abandon Fani Kayode. We supported you. Then, the people who fought us, you appointed them,” he lamented.

Onokpasa clarified that he was not seeking a personal appointment but was disheartened by what he perceived as a lack of gratitude toward those who helped Tinubu ascend to power.

“I don’t need any appointment from you. My Lord Jesus takes care of me any time, any day. That’s the story of my life. But this is such a shame that you will stab all of us in the back like this,” he added.

He went on to describe Bwala as a “serpentine character” who, in his view, lacks loyalty and credibility. “You give him an appointment on what basis? We are the ones that put you in power. We are the ones God used,” Onokpasa stated.

The video has sparked widespread debate, with many Nigerians weighing in on the issue of appointments and Tinubu’s treatment of his loyalists. Neither President Tinubu nor Daniel Bwala has responded to Onokpasa’s remarks at the time of this report.
