Must read

Five soldiers were killed in a recent attack by members of the Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist group, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed.

Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed the fatalities, stating that the soldiers were part of a stabilization force deployed at a defense site in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.

In a statement released on Tuesday, November 19, Buba explained that the coordinated assault resulted in five soldiers killed, ten others wounded, and four more missing.

Despite the attack, the troops successfully eliminated several terrorists and recovered weapons.

“The attack led to the loss of five soldiers, 10 wounded, and four missing in action. However, our troops neutralized several terrorists and recovered weapons,” Buba said.

The attack also caused significant damage to the Nigerian military’s equipment, including a gun truck, three TCVs, and an excavator, which were destroyed and burned by the terrorists.

Following the attack, a reinforcement team, supported by air components, was dispatched to pursue the terrorists and explore their withdrawal routes.

Buba reassured the public that such attacks would not deter the Nigerian military’s commitment to ending terrorism, insurgency, and other security challenges facing the country.
