Mike Adenuga not dead – Dele Momodu

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Dele Momodu has dismissed rumours circulating about the death of Nigerian billionaire businessman Mike Adenuga.

Adenuga, known as Africa’s fifth-richest person according to Forbes, is the founder of Globacom, Nigeria’s second-largest telecom provider, which also operates in Ghana and Benin Republic.

Online speculations had claimed the 71-year-old business magnate had passed away.

However, on Tuesday night, Momodu posted on X (formerly Twitter) to clarify that Adenuga is alive and in good health.

Momodu shared that he had spoken directly with Adenuga, who confirmed he remains active and dedicated to supporting Nigeria’s economy.

In his tweet, Momodu wrote, “Ignore the fake news… The Spirit of Africa, DR MICHAEL ADENIYI AGBOLADE ISOLA ADENUGA, is hale and hearty. He’s right now at his desk working round the clock in support of the Nigerian economy… He just called me to thank everyone for their concern…” – DELE MOMODU.

Adenuga, who made his first million at age 26 in 1979 through selling lace and distributing soft drinks, has long been a prominent figure in African business.

In 2007, he was awarded African Entrepreneur of The Year at the inaugural African Telecoms Awards (ATA).

Additionally, in May 2015, he attempted to acquire the Ivorian mobile telecom company Comium Côte d’Ivoire with a $600 million bid.
