The Southwest Zonal Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Olalekan Folorunsho, also known as Lekan Salami, has announced that the Union’s National President, Musiliu Akinsanya, known widely as MC Oluomo, is no longer a member.
Salami stated that MC Oluomo is ineligible to hold any office within NURTW due to his departure from the Union.
According to Salami, MC Oluomo ended his membership in 2022 when he publicly destroyed his Union identification card, following a disciplinary notice from the Union’s national body.
“Our Constitution requires that a former member seeking reinstatement must formally apply to the national leadership,” Salami explained.
“If accepted, they must then wait two years before being eligible for any office, starting from the lowest level as a unit chairman. MC Oluomo has not followed these procedures.”
Salami also reaffirmed support for Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa as the legitimate leader of the NURTW in Osun State, whose tenure was validated by the Appeal Court.
He urged the government to reject any form of lawlessness, emphasizing that MC Oluomo must be restrained from activities that threaten order.
