PDP to review Ondo governorship election after loss

Must read

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced plans to conduct a thorough review of the Ondo State governorship election held on Saturday and its outcome.

The party’s spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, made this known in a statement on Sunday, indicating that the party would take necessary steps to safeguard the nation’s democracy.

“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP will be undertaking a comprehensive review of the election and its outcome and will take appropriate action in defense of our democracy,” Ologunagba said.

In the meantime, Ologunagba criticized the election, describing it as one of the worst conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He argued that the process failed to meet the standards of a free, fair, and credible election.

Ologunagba further accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of engaging in widespread electoral malpractices. According to him, the election was marred by vote buying, monetization, and manipulation, aimed at suppressing the genuine will of the electorate.

“This election was characterized by blatant vote trading and financial inducement by the APC and its government machinery, undermining the true aspirations of the people,” he stated.

The PDP spokesman called on Nigerians and the international community to take note of the alleged irregularities and urged for decisive actions to address them in order to protect the integrity of the country’s democratic process.
