The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has kicked off the distribution of election materials early Saturday morning at the Anglican Primary School Registration Area Centre in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Polling Unit Officers, along with members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), were seen collecting the materials, which were then dispatched to various polling units.
The exercise was carried out under the watchful eyes of police officers tasked with ensuring the safety of both the officials and the sensitive materials.
Meanwhile, early voters were already at the venue, checking the voters’ list for their names, while local entrepreneurs set up small businesses. Vendors sold rice, water, and beverages to the officials, security personnel, and early voters awaiting the start of the exercise.
Security officials at the center assured the public that adequate measures were in place to maintain safety throughout the voting process. As the day progresses, all attention is focused on Ondo State as residents head to the polls to choose their next governor.
An INEC representative, noted the importance of starting the process on time to avoid any delays. “We began distributing the materials early, and our officers have already moved out to their polling units. We aim to start the voting process as scheduled with no setbacks,” the official stated.
