Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Ondo state gubernatorial election, has expressed confidence in securing victory based on his achievements in office.
Aiyedatiwa, the current governor, cast his vote at polling unit 05, Igbo Ward 4, in Obenla within Ilaje Local Government Area.
After voting, he spoke with journalists, commending security personnel for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere throughout the electoral process.
Aiyedatiwa remarked that the election was proceeding smoothly across Ondo state.
“I am optimistic that success will be mine. I just voted at unit 05 in Ilaje LGA, Ondo,” he stated.
He added, “Here, the environment has been calm and orderly, and the turnout is promising. I hope this is the case in other parts of the state.”
The governor also acknowledged the extensive presence of law enforcement agencies, including police, civil defence, and military, highlighting their role in deterring security threats.
“Ondo has a reputation as one of Nigeria’s safest and most peaceful states, and I trust this election will uphold that tradition,” Aiyedatiwa continued. “People here follow the law, know their choice, and I believe the election will be both peaceful and credible.”
He noted that he followed the full accreditation process before voting, expressing confidence that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would ensure fairness and transparency statewide.
Aiyedatiwa encouraged citizens to vote freely, assuring them of a safe environment.
As for his chances, the APC candidate pointed to his extensive outreach as an advantage, noting that he visited all 18 local government areas during the campaign.
Reflecting on his tenure, he said, “The people know who they want, and I believe I will win this election due to the progress we’ve achieved over the past 10 months.”
He emphasized that he was the only candidate to have campaigned in every LGA, demonstrating his commitment to connecting with voters across the state.
