Adeyanju blasts Wike, urges Fubara to confront Rivers crisis head-on

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has weighed in on the ongoing political standoff between Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Adeyanju advised Fubara to directly challenge Wike, emphasizing that the minister’s aggressive approach will only continue unless firmly confronted.

Adeyanju described Wike as a totalitarian figure who does not entertain compromise.

He argued that Fubara’s repeated concessions have only emboldened Wike.

“There is nothing Fubara can do to make Wike back down,” Adeyanju stated. “He doesn’t believe in middle ground, and the governor’s repeated shifts have only strengthened his position. The solution is for Fubara to take a bold stand against him. Wike reacts poorly when challenged, becoming unsettled and erratic in his responses.”

Adeyanju also criticized Wike’s alleged “god complex,” urging Fubara to “man up” and resist his influence.

He pointed out that the Supreme Court has already ruled that defectors should lose their seats, and accused Wike of manipulating the judicial process for his own benefit.

Adeyanju warned that Wike’s treatment of his allies could extend to President Tinubu as well, noting, “The same way Wike treated those who supported him, he could do the same to Tinubu. If Wike truly believes he is the oracle of the PDP, why couldn’t he make himself the party’s presidential candidate?”

The feud between Fubara and Wike, which began in late 2023, has caused deep divisions within the state assembly, including the burning of its complex. Despite intervention attempts by President Bola Tinubu, the crisis remains unresolved.
