Senator Shehu Sani has commended National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu for recent strides in enhancing security across Northern Nigeria.
In an X (Twitter) statement on Friday, Sani praised Ribadu’s leadership and the significant progress made in curbing violent activities by terrorist groups and bandits that have plagued the region for years.
Highlighting Ribadu’s commitment and strategic approach, Sani noted that under Ribadu’s guidance, there has been a marked decrease in insurgency-related incidents, restoring a sense of safety in previously vulnerable areas.
The former senator credited the NSA’s coordination with the military, police, and intelligence agencies for the success of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts, which have disrupted organized crime and decreased the influence of armed groups.
Sani, a former senator representing Kaduna Central and a well-known voice on security issues, called Ribadu’s impact “a critical turning point,” and urged sustained vigilance and resources for long-term stability in Northern Nigeria.
He also encouraged further support from the government and local communities to reinforce these security achievements.
Ribadu’s efforts, Sani added, signal hope for peace in regions historically affected by violence, offering renewed prospects for development and community rebuilding.
Shehu Sani’s statement read, “Nuhu Ribadu has achieved what many of his predecessors have failed to accomplish despite the hundreds of billions spent in the name of defence and security in the past.
“Neutralization of top bandit leaders, end to mass abductions of students in northern schools, Securing Rail lines and major northern highways hitherto notorious for kidnappings.
“The prompt response to terrorist attacks on power lines is worth mentioning. Security challenges are not over but in all indices of comparison, he has performed better and set unprecedented records.
“His political critics are fully entitled to their views, but his delivery on his mandate is unparalleled.”
