Ondo 2024: APC raises alarm over presence of fake soldiers in Idanrei

Must read

As the Ondo State governorship election approaches, the Idanre chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised concerns over the presence of fake soldiers allegedly brought into the area. The party claims these imposters have been deployed to several rural communities in Idanre.

According to Hon. Kolawole Olomola, an APC chieftain in Idanre, the fake soldiers were reportedly brought in by a prominent member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

He disclosed that the imposters were seen riding numerous motorcycles around 1:00 a.m., and have since taken refuge in the rural areas of the town.

Olomola stated that local community leaders have reported sightings of the fake soldiers, adding that their presence is causing fear and unrest among the residents. He expressed concern that the individuals were allegedly brought in to intimidate APC supporters and disrupt the peaceful conduct of the election in Idanre’s rural communities.

“It has been confirmed through local intelligence that these fake soldiers were imported to Idanre with the intention of intimidating our party supporters and creating chaos during the election,” Olomola remarked.

He further expressed alarm over what he described as a sinister plan by the PDP chieftain to instill fear, prevent voters from exercising their rights, and possibly resort to violence to sway the election outcome.

“I am deeply concerned about the malicious intentions of this well-known PDP leader. Their goal seems to be to intimidate, harm, and discourage the people of Idanre from coming out to vote freely for the candidate of their choice,” Olomola lamented.

In response, Hon. Kolawole has called on security agencies to urgently deploy personnel to Idanre’s rural areas to disband and apprehend the fake soldiers.
