Governor Eno sacks MD of Ibom Power Company

Must read

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has removed the Managing Director and CEO of Ibom Power Company (IPC), Engr. Meyen Etukudoh, effective immediately.

The announcement was made in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, and shared with the media in Uyo.

According to the statement, the governor’s decision is part of a larger restructuring effort to align the state’s power sector with the administration’s ARISE Agenda.

Engr. Etukudoh has been directed to hand over his duties to the Commissioner for Power, who will manage the company’s operations until a new appointment is made.

Governor Eno thanked Etukudoh for his contributions to the state and wished him success in his future endeavors.

The dismissal follows a statement made by Etukudoh just hours earlier, in which he explained that a recent statewide power outage was caused by a disagreement between Ibom Power and its gas supplier, Savannah Energy Company.

The statement read: “In line with the ongoing restructuring efforts of this administration and to meet the goals set out in the ARISE Agenda for the power sector, Governor Umo Eno has relieved Engr. Meyen Etukudoh of his position as Managing Director of Ibom Power Company Limited, effective November 14, 2024.”
