“CIA’s standard denial doesn’t confirm Tinubu as asset” – Reno Omokri

Must read

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has dismissed claims that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) identified President Bola Tinubu as an asset.

This comes after journalist David Hundeyin shared documents on social media, suggesting that the U.S. intelligence agency confirmed Tinubu as one of its assets.

Omokri responded, calling the claim “a preposterous lie,” and clarified that the CIA had not, in any capacity, confirmed or implied that Tinubu was an asset.

“Every day in the United States, various individuals, organizations, and even government bodies file Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests directed at the CIA,” Omokri explained. “The CIA is well-known for using standard language to deny these requests, the same wording quoted by some who have now concluded that this implies Tinubu is a CIA asset.”

He added that Nigerians interested in this topic could look into numerous similar cases.

“There are thousands of such instances for reference,” Omokri noted.

He noted that the document in question does not in any way confirm or even suggest that Tinubu is a CIA asset.

“I urge everyone to read the document themselves rather than relying on others’ interpretations,” Omokri concluded.
