Senator Shehu Buba, representing Bauchi State’s South Senatorial District, is facing a potential recall after recent reports connected him with individuals linked to terrorism in Northern Nigeria.
Media sources indicate that these allegations have stirred discontent among his constituents, who are now pushing for both transparency and the senator’s recall.
Abubakar Idris, a known terrorist arrested on August 17, 2024, allegedly named Buba as an associate, causing widespread anger across the district.
This public outrage has led to the formal initiation of a recall effort, with an increasing number of voters signing a petition to remove him from office.
Adding to Senator Buba’s challenges, questions have arisen about his origins. Reports suggest the All Progressives Congress senator may actually be from Barkin Ladi in Plateau State rather than Bauchi.
“We thought he was one of us, but he’s not even a Bauchi native,” a local community leader said anonymously to a reporter.
