The Lagos State Government has apprehended 94 individuals in a late-night operation following numerous complaints from the public about unauthorized squatters, miscreants, and suspected criminal behaviour near rail track corridors.
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources Tokunbo Wahab shared the news on http://X.com on Wednesday, revealing that the operation led to the seizure of a locally made short gun, multiple wraps of suspected cannabis, charms, and a jackknife.
Wahab stated, “In response to concerns from residents, commuters, and citizens regarding the unlawful activities of squatters and criminal elements near rail tracks, the agency conducted a midnight operation along the tracks from Pen-Cinema under the bridge to Fagba Junction.”
The operation, which began around 2:30 a.m., spanned over five kilometres, clearing shanties and unauthorized structures. Wahab confirmed that 94 individuals were detained, and the recovered items would be used as evidence when the suspects are formally charged in court.
