Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has appointed Barr. Musa U. Ikhilor as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Samson Osagie, PhD, as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, and Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole as the Commissioner for Health.
The nominations of Osagie and Oshiomhole are set to be forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for confirmation soon.
Barr. Ikhilor, born on August 6, 1980, in Benin City, holds an LL.B from Ahmadu Bello University and a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School, both with Second Class Upper Division.
With a Master’s in Telecommunications Law from the same university, Ikhilor has over 11 years of expertise in legislative drafting and governance, having held multiple roles in the National Assembly.
In 2019, he served as a Consultant for the Federal House of Representatives on the review of the 1999 Constitution, focusing on gender equity, human rights, and government reform. He also held senior advisory roles with the Deputy Speaker of the House and has been a Notary Public since June 2022.
Dr. Samson Osagie, nominee for Attorney General, is a private legal practitioner and Vice President of the African Bar Association (West Africa). Born on November 11, 1967, he has served as a member of both the Edo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, where he held the position of Minority Whip.
His qualifications include degrees in law, public administration, international relations, and a Doctorate in Political Economy and Development Studies.
Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole, designated as Health Commissioner, completed his medical degree at Ahmadu Bello University and has advanced training in public health from Tulane University. He furthered his studies in clinical research at Harvard University and in gastroenterology at Queen Mary University, London.
