Bomb explosion: Plateau Police dismisses rumours, says no cause for alarm

The Plateau State Police Command has refuted rumours of a bomb explosion near Murtala Way by Jos Terminus in Jos North Local Government Area.

In a statement on Tuesday, Police Public Relations Officer Alfred Alabo clarified that the command had received a report earlier that morning about a possible Improvised Explosive Device (IED) allegedly planted near Murtala Way, close to the former site of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).

Alabo explained, “At approximately 8:20 a.m., we were alerted to a shallow hole that raised suspicion of containing an IED. This rumour stirred panic among residents.

“Acting promptly, Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Adesina dispatched the Anti-Bomb Squad to secure and inspect the area. Upon examination, the team confirmed the area was safe, with no explosives found.”

Alabo added that the Commissioner personally visited the location and commended the community for their calm, cooperation, and vigilance during the incident.

He reassured residents that the area was secure and encouraged them to continue their daily activities without concern.
