Ahead of the upcoming Ondo State governorship election, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has declared his support for Agboola Ajayi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate.
In a statement released on Tuesday by Atiku’s media aide, Paul Ibe, the former vice president expressed confidence in Ajayi’s capability to bring positive change to Ondo State.
He described Ajayi as a leader who possesses the necessary skills and vision to drive the state’s transformation.
Atiku called on all PDP members in Ondo State to rally strong support for Ajayi in the election scheduled for Saturday.
He praised the PDP candidate as a seasoned politician capable of not only securing victory for the party but also delivering substantial progress for the people of the Sunshine State.
“The forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State is a chance for the people to steer the state towards greater prosperity,” Atiku stated.
He criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as an unpopular party that has failed to prioritize the welfare of the people.
“The citizens of Ondo have an opportunity in Hon. Ajayi of the PDP to send a clear message to the APC: enough is enough,” he added.
Atiku also issued a stern warning to election officials, emphasizing that the PDP would not tolerate any form of malpractice in the Ondo governorship poll. He urged voters to turn out in large numbers and ensure their votes are counted.
“When the tide is high, it becomes impossible to manipulate the results. The people of Ondo State are known for their integrity, and this election requires unwavering vigilance,” Atiku concluded.
