NLC accuses fuel marketers of price gouging on petrol

Must read

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has raised allegations against fuel marketers, accusing them of unjustly inflating petrol prices, resulting in pump prices that are significantly higher than the actual market value.

The NLC stated that Nigerians are being exploited, as many continue to face severe economic hardship exacerbated by government policies that have driven many into poverty.

In a communique issued after its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, the NLC highlighted the widespread economic difficulties affecting citizens and urged the government to urgently review what it termed as “anti-people” policies.

Additionally, the NLC has directed its state councils where the new minimum wage has not been implemented to begin an indefinite strike starting December 1, 2024, as a form of protest against unresolved labor issues.

This directive reflects the NLC’s growing concerns about the economic burden on Nigerians and its determination to hold both fuel marketers and the government accountable for the welfare of the people.
