Must read

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to depart Abuja on Sunday for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he will participate in the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit.

The announcement was made in a statement by the presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, on Saturday.

According to the statement, the summit, scheduled to begin on Monday, November 11, 2024, will focus on addressing the ongoing Middle East crisis.

The event is being held at the invitation of Saudi Arabia’s King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, following a similar summit in Riyadh last year.

“During the summit, President Tinubu is expected to speak on the Israel-Palestinian conflict, advocating for an immediate ceasefire and calling for a peaceful resolution,” the statement reads. “Nigeria will also push for renewed efforts towards a two-state solution as a means to achieve lasting peace in the region.”

The President will be accompanied by key government officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Information and National Orientation Alhaji Mohammed Idris, and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.

President Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja following the conclusion of the summit.
