President Bola Tinubu has approved the reappointment of Professor Abdullahi Mustapha for a second five-year term as Director General of the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA).
This decision was officially communicated through a letter from Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, acknowledging Mustapha’s achievements over the past four years.
Under the provisions of Sections 10 (1) and (3) of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (Establishment) Act, 2022, Mustapha’s renewed term began on October 31, 2024.
The reappointment reflects President Tinubu’s trust in Mustapha’s leadership abilities and his potential to advance the biotechnology field in Nigeria.
Prof. Mustapha’s continued leadership is expected to support critical developments in food security, improve pharmaceutical manufacturing, and position Nigeria as a key player in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
A respected Professor of Bioinorganic Chemistry from Dambatta in Kano State, Mustapha brings significant academic and professional expertise to the role.
His experience is anticipated to further promote responsible and innovative applications of biotechnology to enhance national progress.
