Fatima Buhari, daughter of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, has been named the first-ever ambassador for the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN).
Her appointment follows her recent inauguration as the Coordinator of the Katsina State chapter of the Professional Women Accountants in Nigeria (PROWAN), marking another milestone in her professional journey.
The announcement was made during a celebratory dinner held to honor the newly elected leaders of ANAN, where the association’s National President, James Neminebor, officially unveiled Fatima Buhari’s new role.
Neminebor encouraged the newly appointed executives to dedicate themselves fully to their responsibilities, emphasizing the importance of upholding high standards of professionalism.
He highlighted that their efforts would be instrumental in strengthening ANAN’s influence and reach across the nation.
He also expressed gratitude to the Katsina State Government for its continuous support of ANAN’s initiatives, pointing out that embracing professional accounting practices is key to ensuring transparency and effective financial management. Neminebor called on other state governments to collaborate with ANAN in promoting financial accountability throughout Nigeria.
In her remarks, Fatima Buhari expressed her pride in becoming ANAN’s first ambassador, calling it a significant achievement for women accountants, especially in Northern Nigeria.
“This appointment is not just a personal accomplishment, but a recognition of the hard work, resilience, and dedication of women accountants across the region and the entire country,” she stated.
Fatima’s new role is seen as a positive step towards increasing the visibility and impact of professional women in accounting, paving the way for greater gender inclusivity in the field.
