Must read

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that sensitive materials for the upcoming Ondo governorship election, scheduled for November 16, will arrive in Akure by Tuesday, November 12.

During a pre-election briefing with stakeholders in Akure, INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu stated that essential materials, including ballot papers and result sheets, will be delivered to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s branch in Akure.

Political party representatives and other stakeholders will be invited to inspect these materials to ensure transparency before they are distributed to local government areas and wards throughout Ondo State.

Yakubu emphasized INEC’s commitment to a well-coordinated and credible election, noting that all logistics for the safe delivery and distribution of these materials are in place.

“We have arranged for the delivery of sensitive materials as early as Tuesday next week,” Yakubu said. “Political parties and other stakeholders will be invited for inspection at the Central Bank in Akure and during the movement of materials to local government and ward centers.”

To facilitate the timely distribution, Yakubu highlighted that INEC has organized both land and maritime transport to reach polling units across the state, ensuring all areas are accessible on election day.

INEC has also engaged security agencies to safeguard the materials and personnel involved throughout the election process. In preparation, the commission has been conducting mock accreditation exercises using its Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in selected locations across Ondo.

Yakubu assured the public of INEC’s readiness to deliver a fair, secure, and transparent election.
