Dogs maul security man to death in Lagos as Police takes owner into custody

The Lagos State Police Command has taken into custody the owner of dogs that allegedly attacked and killed a security guard at Pinnock Beach Estate in Lekki.

This action follows the circulation of a video on social media showing three dogs roaming around the lifeless body of the guard.

AFRIPOST reports that the disturbing footage sparked public outrage online, with one user sharing that the guard had been fatally attacked after the dogs escaped from their owner’s property.

In a post on social media platform X, the user criticized Nigerian dog owners, stating, “Someone’s dog at Pinnock Estate attacked and killed a security guard. Dog owners here don’t understand proper handling or training of guard dogs. I hope the victim’s family sues and gets justice.”

Lagos Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest, stating that the dog owner is now in police custody.

Hundeyin shared this update on X, along with images of relevant legal provisions on manslaughter.
