Police raid kidnappers’ den in Nasarawa, rescue 14 victims, arrest suspects

Police officers from the Toto Division, working with local community youth, raided a kidnappers’ hideout in Achido village, a remote forested area on the border of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Kogi State, successfully rescuing fourteen kidnapped individuals.

The rescued victims included Adamu Abdullahi, Musa Ahmed, and Auwal Adamu from Kuje in Abuja’s FCT, as well as Hussaini Yakubu, Haruna Usman, Jibrin Bature, Isyaka Yakubu, Sule Bello, and Yusuf Yusuf, all from Lapai in Niger State.

According to a press release issued on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, other victims included Yunusa Danladi of Tanshi village in Kuje Area Council (FCT-Abuja), along with Yusuf Tashai and Kabiru Iliya from Rubuchi, FCT, and Sabo Yakubu and Sagir Iliya.

During the operation, five suspects were arrested, including Shuaibu Garba, Umar Mohammed, and Yakubu Kasim. Additionally, Mustapha Adamu and Abdul Mohammed admitted to supplying food to the kidnappers in the forest.

In response, Nasarawa State’s Police Commissioner, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, reaffirmed the police’s commitment to working with local communities to combat crime and urged the public to report suspicious activity.
