70 vehicles confiscated in Lagos as authorities intensify traffic law compliance

Must read

The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit, known as the Taskforce, seized 70 vehicles today, November 5, 2024, for severe violations of Lagos State’s amended traffic laws.

The operation targeted specific locations where reckless driving by commercial drivers frequently causes unnecessary traffic jams and public disturbances.

Taskforce Chairman CSP Adetayo Akerele warned that the agency would strictly enforce traffic and environmental regulations under his leadership, stating that improved public safety and environmental order can only be achieved if citizens obey the laws.

The enforcement took place at Okuta Road junction in Bariga, under the Oba Akran Road bridge in Ikeja, and along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway near Ladipo.

CSP Akerele added that the force would not allow lawless drivers to create traffic problems, emphasizing that congestion is caused by irresponsible driving rather than natural factors.
