First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu are set to lead a national prayer initiative aimed at addressing Nigeria’s numerous economic challenges.
The event, organized with support from both Christian and Muslim leaders, seeks divine guidance amid the country’s ongoing struggles.
Chief Segun Balogun Afolorunikan, Director General of the National Prayer Forum (NPF), announced the initiative at a press briefing in Abuja under the theme “Seeking Divine Intervention in Nigeria’s Affairs.”
Afolorunikan emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort in confronting Nigeria’s complex issues, expressing hope that, with divine support, both leaders and citizens could find strength to face common challenges. He added that they aim for Nigeria to enter 2025 with renewed direction and stability.
The prayer sessions will be held at key locations: Muslims will gather at Abuja’s National Mosque for a seven-day Qur’an recitation event, involving 313 participants and a total of 2,191 recitations, to pray for national peace.
Meanwhile, Christian prayer warriors from various denominations will convene at the National Ecumenical Centre for a week-long prayer focused on addressing the country’s adversities.
Afolorunikan noted that the NPF has engaged in extensive outreach, including discussions with the National Mosque’s leadership, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) President, and traditional authorities like the Sultan of Sokoto.
