Soldiers engage bandits in gun battle, kill 3, rescue farmers

Three bandits were reportedly killed, and four farmers, including a woman, were rescued when soldiers clashed with bandits in Mai-Iddo village, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

AFRIPOST gathered that armed bandits had abducted two farmers from Mai-Iddo village and two others, including a woman, from a farm in nearby Arikon village last week.

A local community leader confirmed the rescue to the media on Sunday, explaining that the victims were freed following a raid on a bandits’ hideout in the Kurmin-Kare forest.

He added that soldiers conducting a clearance operation in nearby Kagarko LGA villages encountered the bandits, sparking a fierce gunfight.

A security source involved in the operation, speaking anonymously, confirmed that three bandits were killed. He noted that the remaining bandits retreated after the intense exchange, with some reportedly fleeing with gunshot wounds.

Attempts to reach ASP Hassan Mansur, the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
