The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has reported the arrest of 130 individuals linked to cybercrimes, hacking, and activities posing a threat to national security.

In a statement issued yesterday, police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi revealed that the suspects include 113 foreign nationals—87 men and 26 women—as well as 17 Nigerian collaborators, comprising four men and 13 women.

According to Adejobi, most of the foreign nationals are of Chinese and Malaysian origin.

The arrests were made during a coordinated raid at a building in the Next Cash and Carry area of Jahi, Abuja.

The suspects were reportedly using computers and other sophisticated devices to carry out their illicit activities, the statement explained.

The operation, led by Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 7 Headquarters in Abuja, AIG Benneth Igweh, took place on Saturday, November 2, 2024. It involved officers from the Nigeria Police Force Zone 7 Command and the National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC).

“We are currently investigating the matter and conducting scientific analyses on the recovered exhibits,” Adejobi added. He also confirmed that the suspects would be charged in court once investigations are completed, and further updates would be provided as necessary.
