Gunmen ambush, kidnap businessman in Anambra

A middle-aged man, believed to be a businessman, was reportedly abducted in the Alor community, Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State.

According to sources, the incident took place on Sunday evening as the victim was driving home from an event.

Witnesses said that the assailants intercepted his vehicle near Ezeani Primary School in Alor, forcing him out after breaking the car’s windows.

The man, driving a Toyota Corolla with plate number EKY-102GK, was allegedly hit on the head before being forced into the attackers’ car.

An anonymous source explained, “The incident happened around 6:47 pm on Sunday. The attackers shattered his car windows, hit him with their weapon, and dragged him into their vehicle. We couldn’t clearly identify him due to the blood on his face, but he appears to be a businessman from our community.” The abandoned vehicle, left with visible blood stains, caused nearby residents to hide and observe from a distance.

A video circulating on social media shows the deserted car at the roadside, which reportedly belongs to the abducted individual.

Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident on Monday, stating that an investigation is underway. “The Command has launched an investigation into the abandoned vehicle found in Alor. Preliminary findings indicate that the man was taken by unidentified persons. Police are working with local residents to help locate the victim and apprehend the suspects,” Ikenga stated.
