A Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, has sentenced ‘Professor’ Jide Josiah Jisos to six months in prison for impersonation during the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The sentence followed Jisos’s attempt to sit the exam on behalf of his daughter.
Jisos was apprehended by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) officials while they were monitoring the 2019 UTME at Brix Academy in Abuja.
According to a statement released by JAMB’s spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, Jisos initially claimed to be representing a non-governmental organization (NGO) overseeing the examination process.
However, his cover was blown when a member of the JAMB monitoring team questioned him in the examination hall, prompting Jisos to admit he had no affiliation with any NGO.
He later confessed that he was there to help his daughter by attempting to take the UTME on her behalf.
Chief Magistrate Folashade Oyekan found Jisos guilty of impersonation, sentencing him to six months in prison, with an option to pay a N100,000 fine.
The statement from JAMB did not specify the date of the judgment.
