Two dead, four injured in Ota-Idiroko road accident

The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) reported on Friday that a tragic accident on the Ota-Idiroko road claimed the lives of two individuals, leaving four others injured.

TRACE’s Ogun West Zonal Commander, Adekunle Ajibade, confirmed the incident, which occurred around 9:30 a.m. at Iju along the busy road. The crash involved a Toyota Camry and a tricycle, both carrying a total of six passengers, including four men, a woman, and a toddler.

According to Ajibade, the Toyota Camry, which had no registration number, attempted an improper overtaking maneuver, colliding with an oncoming tricycle with registration number EKY 892.

“The collision led to injuries for four passengers, while two men sadly lost their lives,” Ajibade said. He added that the deceased were taken to the General Hospital in Ota, where the survivors are also receiving medical treatment.

Ajibade advised motorists to exercise caution, particularly by avoiding reckless overtaking and high speeds, to prevent further accidents during the “ember” months, a period often associated with increased road incidents.

Both the Camry and the tricycle have been cleared from the scene to facilitate traffic flow.
