Must read

A man known as Nonso was killed by suspected cultists on Friday afternoon in Awka, Anambra State.

In a family with three boys, Nonso, the third son, is reported to have lost two of his siblings in past instances of cultism.

Nonso, also known as Amaku, was assassinated on Friday in broad daylight close to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, NAUTH, according to a source.

Nonso’s younger brother, Buchi, was killed three months ago at MacDon Eatery, and his murder is connected to his death, according to a close family source.

According to the report, their oldest brother had also perished horribly in an earlier assault. After this series of cult assaults, their mother is left childless.

AFRIPOST reports that cult-related murders have been common in Awka lately; 16 people were recently slain in Nibo, and seven more were killed in the Ifite Awka region.

The violence continues despite repeated promises from the police.

Nnaghe Obono Itam, the commissioner of police for Anambra State, has denounced the most recent murder and pledged a comprehensive investigation.

He declared, “We will stop at nothing to capture the criminals and bring them to justice.”

On Friday, the Ezinano Awka Community, under the leadership of Ozo Jeff Nweke, issued a warning to cultists to avoid Awka and its surroundings and offered a N10 million reward for anyone who could bring useful information about those responsible for the Nibo Massacre.
