The Kaduna State Police Command has recovered two stolen automobiles and apprehended the culprits while also arresting a kidnapper as well.
ASP Mansir Hassan, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the occurrences in a statement made Thursday in Kaduna.
According to Hassan, on October 25, at around 20:00 hours, a patrol squad from the Rigachikun division saw a strangely parked black Kia Rio behind NDC Quarters.
He stated that the lone occupant fled the scene, abandoning the car.
“A search revealed a Tecno KL4 handset, an iPad, and vehicle documentation photocopies. Preliminary investigations identified the owner as a resident of Sardauna Close in Badarawa, Kaduna.
“The vehicle was stolen earlier that day at 14:00 hours from Yahaya Road Jumaat Mosque in Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna,” he said.
He revealed further that on October 27, Kakuri Police Division officers stopped a Toyota LE car on Kachia Road that had four people inside acting strangely.
“The suspects confessed to receiving the vehicle from two others, who instructed them to sell it.
“Police subsequently apprehended the additional two suspects. All six suspects are in custody, with ongoing investigations,” he added.
He stated that Abdullahi Saleh, 42, was taken into custody by Katari Division officers on October 29 for assisting banditry and attempting to extort money.
He claimed Saleh reportedly went up to a female shopkeeper at Katari Main Market and told her that a gang of bandits was about to kidnap her.
According to the police image maker, Saleh acknowledged to the crime and was still being held after his demand of N200,000 was subsequently lowered to N60,000.
Ibrahim Abdullahi, the State Police Commissioner, gave the public his word that the command would safeguard people and property.
