EFCC transfers Bobrisky to Abuja for further interrogation

Must read

Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, the controversial social media personality and crossdresser, has been transferred to Abuja by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for questioning over alleged bribery and corruption.

Sources from the EFCC confirmed that Bobrisky was detained by immigration officials at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Thursday night while attempting to board a KLM flight to Amsterdam en route to London. The detention reportedly stemmed from his failure to respond to multiple EFCC invitations related to his recent allegations against the agency.

Bobrisky took to Instagram to inform his followers about the incident, claiming that he sustained injuries during a confrontation with immigration officials and alleged that the EFCC was behind his detention, writing, “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.”

The arrest follows accusations made by Bobrisky in a voice note shared by social critic Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, in which Bobrisky claimed he had paid a N15 million bribe to EFCC officials to drop money laundering charges against him.

Although the EFCC has denied these allegations, it established a committee to investigate the claims.

EFCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Wilson Uwajaren, stated in a briefing that Bobrisky could face additional charges if his allegations against the commission are proven false.

Uwajaren emphasized that making false statements or accusations against the EFCC is a serious offense.

A senior EFCC source commented, “We had no choice but to arrest him, as he refused to attend previous invitations. Such serious allegations cannot be ignored, and we need him to substantiate his claims.”

EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed that Bobrisky is currently en route to Abuja for further interrogation.
