Aiyedatiwa in panic mode ahead of Ondo election -PDP claims

Must read

As the November 16 Ondo governorship election approaches, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) claims that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, is panicking over a possible defeat.

The APC, however, dismissed the PDP’s claims, describing them as baseless and expressing confidence that Aiyedatiwa will win by a landslide.

PDP Publicity Secretary, Hon. Kennedy Peretei, stated, “With the election nearing, those who once claimed an easy victory are now losing sleep and slipping into a ‘panic mode.’ Initially confident, many have now faced the realities on the ground, realizing that they’re not as ‘lucky’ as they thought.”

Peretei emphasized that while APC leaders operate in comfort, the mood in the streets is different, as “hunger and hardship are widespread.” According to him, voters at Governor Aiyedatiwa’s campaign stops have expressed their dissatisfaction, pointing to the pain and poverty they attribute to APC policies.

Peretei also noted that Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, APC National Chairman, has made contradictory statements about the party’s approach in Ondo, hinting at an “Edo Template” while simultaneously claiming no need for election manipulation. “This is a clear admission that APC leadership realizes it cannot rig this election,” he added.

Further criticizing the governor’s campaign, Peretei cited recent decisions that he termed “panicky measures,” such as the unpaid salaries of 416 political appointees from the 203 Electoral Wards in October. “What guarantee do these appointees have of being paid if Aiyedatiwa loses?” he asked.

He also pointed to the recent campaign promise of a N73,000 minimum wage, questioning its sincerity. “Those workers endorsing the governor should ask themselves if they have truly been ‘lucky’ under his administration,” Peretei concluded.
